Passacaglia (2013)

for trumpet (or violin) and piano OR two trumpets and piano

The Passacaglia is extracted from the second movement of my trio for violin, trumpet and piano – La Viaggio Vita.  It was obvious that the second movement elicited a strong emotional response from players and audiences alike.  With that in mind, it occurred to me that it would make for a nice solo instrumental feature.  The original was written as a dedication piece for a 20th wedding anniversary, and it is this five minute section, in particular, that represents the loving bond formed in a marriage.
