What a joy to compose a fanfare for Mary Thornton, on the occasion of her 50th birthday! Mary has played several works of mine, and has commissioned music from me as well. More importantly, she is a dear person with a wonderful heart and spirit. (even if a Packers fan…) So when Carrie Pierce contacted me with the idea of a surprise fanfare for Mary’s semicentennial birthday, I was all in!
